Sustainability Finance Manager

JOB PURPOSE
As our Sustainability Finance Manager at Burberry, you’ll be supporting in the research, design, implementation and reporting of Burberry’s sustainability finance agenda, working closely with the wider Finance team and our Corporate Responsibility team. Day to day, you will be working on the current disclosure obligations in this space, and preparing Burberry for upcoming reporting agreements across sustainability. Additionally, you will contribute to the Burberry Beyond strategy and ensure financial considerations are embedded throughout the various initiatives which underpin this.
This Sustainability Finance Manager role is offered on a full time, permanent basis. We’re flexible as to where you are based – this can either be from our Queen Street, Leeds office or our Horseferry House, London office.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supporting the Sustainability related Financial reporting agenda, including:
- Analysing financial and non-financial data from various sources, providing scenario analysis and potential impact around climate change
- Supporting in the drafting of TCFD Annual Report disclosures, contribution to the external assurance process around TCFD, GHG and our KPI’s
- Providing input for various committee reports around Finance sustainability initiatives and
- Preparing Burberry for upcoming requirements in this space, including the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) and Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)
Ensuring financial considerations are built into our ESG agenda
- Partnering with Corporate Responsibility and Finance teams to support the development of Burberry’s climate Transition Plan, including identify and building in associated costs
- Identifying and reporting on areas of the Group Financial Statements may be impacted by climate change
- Ensuring a coherent and aligned view (both internally and externally) of our climate-related risk scenario analysis, Transition Plan and Group Financial Statements
Supporting strategic initiatives and external partnerships
- Providing financial insights and data to support key strategic initiatives, inlcluding circular business models, traceability, and raw materials excess
- Support the Finance team’s external response to sustainability related matters, including ownership of commitments, interactions and deliverables for Accounting for Sustainability (A4S)
- Supporting the delivery of a sustainability education series to the Finance community and beyond
PERSONAL PROFILE
- You’ll be a qualified accountant with strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes in Finance
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to work with large volume of data
- Advanced Excel Skills with modelling experience
- Passionate about supporting Burberry’s Climate Positive ambition and the Burberry Beyond strategy
- Fluent in English, both verbal & written with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven examples of where you’ve demonstrated exceptional stakeholder management and influencing ability
The following are desirable skills, but are by no means essential:
- Experience in luxury retail supply chains
- Experience in drafting Annual Report disclosures
- Knowledge of sustainability standards and frameworks including TCFD, TNFD, ISSB and CSRD
- SAP ERP experience
